The Women in Aviation and Aerospace Charter passes 200 signatories.

Following International Women’s Day on Sunday, the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter has marked the moment by passing 200 participants and supporters.

The Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter is a commitment to improving gender balance across aviation and aerospace, including by improving the progression of women into senior roles. The Women in Aviation and Aerospace Charter reflects the aspiration of the industry to see gender balance across all levels. Members of the Charter include aerospace manufacturers, airlines, airports, trade bodies and others.

Reaching 200 core signatories, supporting organisations and overseas supporting organisations is a significant milestone for the Charter which has its two-year anniversary at Farnborough International Airshow in July.

Wilson James signed up to the Charter on Thursday 5 March at the Charter’s South East event hosted by Gatwick Airport.

Wilson James is a leading security, construction logistics and aviation services provider with more than 5,400 employees. Wilson James has been a trusted partner to the aviation industry for more than 25 years. The company delivers robust solutions that support airport operations, infrastructure projects and passenger services.

Sumati Sharma, Co-Chair of the Women in Aviation and Aerospace Charter, said:

“We are thrilled that the Charter has moved with such momentum over the last 18 months with us reaching 200 signatories by International Women’s Day 2020.

“My thanks to Wilson James for joining us on this journey and becoming our 200th signatory.

“With signatories doubling in less than a year, I hope we can carry this momentum forward to get the next 200 signatories and be a force of change, encouraging diversity and inclusion around the world.”

Sam O’Dwyer, Strategic Director of Aviation at Wilson James, said:

“We’re delighted to be the 200th signatory on the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter, alongside other organisations working together to build a more balanced and fair industry for women.

“Wilson James is committed to achieving gender balance at all levels, both within our organisation and the sectors in which we work. In becoming a signatory, we set in stone our pledge to turn this commitment into reality.”
