As part of the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter’s Meet the Signatories series, members of the Charter explain why they joined the Charter, and what steps they have since taken to ensure the inclusion of women in the sectors.
Next in the series, we talk to the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium:
Please name your organisation and explain what it does in the aviation or aerospace industry
The Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) is a Trade Association of about 140 members operating in the South and East of England. The FAC seeks to promote and support member businesses in order to grow and improve their operating structure and results.
Why did you join the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Charter?
The FAC signed up to the WIAC because we firmly believe that women are currently under represented in the Aviation, Aerospace and Space industries. We feel that the inclusion of more women in these industries would improve the prospects and strength of both the industries and the individuals concerned.
What steps are your organisation now taking to help improve gender balance in the industry?
We have appointed a woman (Kim Yeomans) as the Head of Operations within the FAC and we have made positive efforts to secure women as leading presenters and participants in our major annual events.
