alta is a new free online mentoring platform helping women working in the Aerospace and Aviation industry to progress their careers by connecting them with female mentors in the sector. Launched on 8th March, International Women’s Day 2019, the platform is part of the alta mentoring scheme. The UK has the least amount of women in engineering in Europe and this includes the aerospace industry, where there is a chronic shortage of females. Through alta we will support women to gain confidence by receiving non-judgmental female-to-female advice and support.
Women working in the Aerospace and Aviation sectors can use the platform to help them link up with a suitable female mentor. Alta will help you to share experiences, to inspire and to be inspired and will help to develop a new generation of skilled women. This new platform is run by the Royal Aeronautical Society and is part of the Society’s commitment to delivering on the pledges it made as a supporter of the Women in Aviation Charter (WiAA).
Organisations wishing to become more involved in alta can join as alta supporters by making a small donation to ensure its ongoing development and support, and the ability to hold networking events. In this way, companies can help their female employees receive mentoring from across the industry.
