At the first Airlines 2050 Conference, sponsored by Airlines UK, BAR UK, IATA and FlightGlobal, one of the panels centred around the theme of “Future of the Workforce”.
Here, panellists discussed how we can create a more diverse workforce at all levels, and what benefits this will bring for a future, more resilient industry. Challenges in encouraging a more diverse talent pipeline were raised, with how early entry points are key from schools, universities, youth clubs to the further recruitment processes and jobs fairs.
Co-chair of the Women in Aviation & Aerospace Steering Board Sumati Sharma gave a short presentation on the Charter, highlighting the progress made one year on. Wider panellists included Zoe Ebrey, Training Captain with EasyJet, Keith Mason, Professor of Air Transport Management at Cranfield University and Mark Charman, CEO with Goose Recruitment. Hans Nilsson, Senior Client Partner with Korn Ferry moderated the session.
